[MAJ J20] 2024 assessment and expectations for 2025! • Swu News • Star Wars Universe
2024 was a new year during which my passion for Star Wars did not weaken.
In terms of novels, we – finally – had the conclusion of phase II of the High Republic, a phase which, unfortunately, turns out to be somewhat wobbly. If there was very good – the principle of a big battle on Jedha always enthuses me – like the characters, the Worldbuilding, etc., we still come out with a lot of questions. Fortunately, this year also marks the start of phase III which … starts under the best auspices for the moment!
Comics level, I have long released the regular series of the OT period. I still read a few one-shots and those of the HR. I don't remember anything special. For video games, I still have no new console, but I was very happy to see the first open world SW AAA see the light of day! I still hope I can do it one day.
If I am a Lego fan, I rarely buy my Day One sets so I admit I have trouble keeping one in particular. Nevertheless the new collection of Midi-Scale vessels pleases me very much, I hope to be able to take me at least the hawk. Good surprise also for the last R2-D2. In terms of UCS, if the interceptor leaves me indifferent, I could be interested in the Jabba barge, but others will come before.
But Lego is not just sets! At the beginning of this year, I was well completed the construction of a Custom Ghost UCS (Sean Miller design) of more than 13,000 pieces. I hope some or some of you have been able to admire it at the store during the summer because the result still imposes it really! And if not, there is also an article on Swu where I deliver my feelings on the global project.
Let's come to Mudhorn in the room, the Disney+series. Like many, I was generally disappointed by The Acolyte. Good ideas are penalized by often cheap execution and writing hot and very cold. While Star Wars in live action finally came out of the OT shackles, he risks going back there for a long time … The exact opposite, I was not waiting, there too like many, nothing Skeleton Crew and I am until Here packed! There are only two episodes left that I can't wait to discover. Mysteries, lore, very good writing and endearing characters, it's just nice to see!
The Bad Batch finally found the winning formula with his third season, after two first people who suffered from a lack of issues the three-quarters of the episodes. Unfortunately it was already too late, and the series ended, certainly in style. Note that the absence of an ad in this area surprises, perhaps a will to savings in LFL prevented a new project from materializing.
And finally, there is still one point that it seems important to me to emphasize, which also disappointed me this year, it is the undeniable rotting of the fanbase (well, so-called fans I should say .. .). This dark side of the Fandom has always existed – George Lucas, now venerated, was hated for a long time after Phantom Menace”>TPM – But it is becoming more and more visible and uninhibited today. It is enough that a heroine is not sexualized enough to the taste of some, that women are in the direction of a work or headlining, so that torrents of racism, sexism and other forms of hatred flood the Internet and Trust the top of the trends. In addition to pouring the long -term saga, it makes me c ****. C **** that as a fan of Star Wars, I find myself in the same package as these people with whom I do not share anything and who probably understood nothing at the work that they claim to defend. I will stop there, I could continue for a long time but if it is not the place for that, I wanted to say it.

What do I expect for 2025? Andor season 2, which I hope will be as good as the first while correcting its faults, continue to practice my LEGO passion, being able to come to Cusset (again, it's uncertain …) and The rest of the High Republic. And of course, continue my activity within the Swu staff. Besides, I completely zapped that I had spent the 2000 messages!
