Fans of horror and twists and turns need to hurry! As usual, the streaming platform Netflix renews its catalog every month in order to offer a brand new selection. But who says new arrival, also says departure. And in a few days, from the beginning of February, several series and films will no longer be available for viewing. This is particularly the case of the successful film The Witchdirected and written by Robert Eggers in 2015 which has already appealed to the greatest number of people. The Witch : but what is this horror film about?
For almost an hour and a half, this film presents the daily life of an American family living in the New England countryside in 1630, during the period of the famous Salem trials. But now, if the small tribe thought they would live a quiet (and pious) daily life in a peaceful setting, they must quickly give it up when the youngest member of the family disappears without a trace. In panic and despair, the family members then set out to look for the missing youngster. But in their quest for truth, they will witness totally disturbing (even absurd) scenes which will push them to tear themselves apart further. Will they find the answers to their many questions? On the online review site RottenTomatoesmany Internet users shared their impressions of Robert Eggers’ film. And the least we can say is that they were won over by The Witch. Of nearly 330 reviews written, nearly 91% praise the merits of this production. “It sent chills down my spine, in a way that I’m not even sure I was supposed to be chill. The language was very historically accurate, the setting seemed isolated and desperate, and I loved how the film focused on documented cases of witches“, said a user. Positive reactions which should convince the most skeptical!
