These new medical centers which employ salaried practitioners “attract a significant portion of young doctors after their studies”being “very attractive from a financial point of view” and asking “less work” lamented its president, Dr Agnès Giannotti, during an MG France conference.
More “the health system is threatened if we attract” young doctors to these centers “who only treat acute, mildly ill and young people” that they will not see again, declared Agnès Giannotti.
“As a result, no one is going to take care of the challenge that is before us: that of caring for the aging population, with dChronic pathologies and multi-morbidity »she warned.
For MG France, the development of these for-profit companies is a new example of the financialization of health, which has already “swallowed almost all of radiology and biology”.
Yannick Neuder more nuanced
“Elected officials are faced with emergence” of health centers “who come to approach them, sometimes even asking them not to speak about it to local health professionals”confirmed during the conference Ludovic Verrier, chief of staff to the president of a large community of municipalities in the Rhône.
