Thousands of tonnes of rock had buried a railway tunnel approximately 300 meters long and seriously damaged the infrastructure. It was necessary to purge the mountain of 5,000 cubic meters of unstable rock, using water drops by helicopter or even dynamiting, before securing the cliff and then rehabilitating the network.
