Three teasers of the film 100 Years were posted on November 18, 2015 on the io9 YouTube channel. Each video shows actor John Malkovich placing a Louis XIII cognac in a safe. A 100-year countdown then begins. At the end of the trailer, John Malkovich returns to 2115 and rediscovers the vial that he had placed in a safe. The setting changes in each video to show possible futuristic visions of the world. There is a post-apocalyptic world where nature has taken back its rights, an ultra-technological world and a nostalgic world like in the film Blade Runner.
France is behind the 100 Years project. In 2015, the Rémy Martin house contacted Robert Rodriguez to make a film to highlight its star bottle. This is a marketing operation to promote the Louis XIII cognac brand. The film is called 100 Years: The Movie You’ll Never See. For the Rémy Martin house, the instructions are clear: the film must not be released for 100 years. No images should leak. The synopsis of the film has not been revealed, but actor John Malkovich revealed that the notion of the project revolves around the vision of the world in 100 years.
The film of the film 100 Years and a copy of Louis XIII cognac were placed safely in a programmed safe. It can only be opened on the release date of the film 100 Years, i.e. November 18, 2115. (…)
