Fully anticipated by many fans of superheroic productions, the film Superman of James Gunn was revealed last December with a first trailer. The month of January 2025 begins with a new image from the film.
Superman: a new image to support a good cause
Appointed in 2022 by Warner Bros. At the head of DC Studios, director James Gunn was commissioned to establish a new cinematic universe, the DCU. After a long tease, made up of announcements and rumors, spectators were finally able to discover the first work of this new DC Universe with the animated series Creature Commandos. Launched in December 2024, the show ended with its seventh and final episode on January 9. Written and produced by James Gunn, it marked fans with its trashy tone and graphic violence, which is reminiscent of The Suicide Squad et Peacemaker.
Very well received by the press and the public alike, the series Creature Commandos lays the foundations for the DCU to come, and proposes some interesting story lines which should find their fulfillment in the film Supermanexpected for July 9, 2025. We are thinking in particular of the character of Circe, introduced in the first episode of the series. At any rate, Superman is obviously among the most anticipated films of the year, alongside 28 years later by Danny Boyle and Kaamelott: Second Part (part 1) by Alexandre Astier.
Last December, the broadcast of its first teaser literally broke the internet. If some Zack Snyder fans have already decided that they will not give the first DCU film a chance, Superman should be a big hit at the box office and many of us are waiting for new footage. Good news, a new teaser shouldn’t take too long. While Hollywood uses the Super Bowl every year to promote their upcoming productions, Warner Bros. Discovery and James Gunn decided to set their sights on another event: the Puppy Bowl, an annual television show showcasing puppies to encourage adoption.
Partners of the new edition, James Gunn and Warner will offer new images of Superman and a message from the Man of Steel in favor of dog adoption will also be broadcast. Finally, a special reward, the Krypto Super Play, will be given to a puppy in the competition. To celebrate this announcement, a new image of Superman was shared.
We can therefore see the character played by David Corenswet dressed in the Superman costume. Very luminous, this image seems to perfectly embody James Gunn’s project: reconnecting with a more positive imagery of the cult DC Comics charactervery far from the darker and tortured version proposed by Zack Snyder in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice et Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
