The film begins and we are in shock. Michel (Franck Dubosc) is driving his pick-up on a small road in the middle of the forest when he avoids a bear, hits a car, kills the occupants and finds 2 million euros in the trunk. What to do? Call the police? Take the money? And the corpses? Shall we get rid of it? How ?

Michel talks about it to his wife (Laure Calamy), who is not lacking in daring and who will find very original solutions. Meanwhile, we are overwhelmed at the gendarmerie station where we collect migrants and drug traffickers who have gotten lost in the forest. The captain of the gendarmerie goes to the scene of the accident, discovers the bodies, and everyone will quickly be overwhelmed by the events, especially on this Christmas Eve, and in this village in the Jura where life is as usual so calm and peaceful.

This black comedy directed by Franck Dubosc is a nice surprise at the start of the year. With this third film (Everyone standing, Rumba life), he changes register, and it works for him. The icy thriller atmosphere, in the style of Fargo by the Coen brothers, is funny and effective. We like the absurd, even burlesque, side of the situations, and the many twists and turns are surprising, even if they are improbable. Franck Dubosc features endearing characters who go through difficult times and who will be reborn thanks to these insane events. The time-worn couple played by Laurence Calamy and Franck Dubosc will find a second wind, just like the captain of the gendarmerie played by Benoît Poelvoorde, who will reconnect with his teenage daughter.

The distribution is careful, down to the smallest role. Laure Calamy, Benoît Poelvoorde, Franck Dubosc, Joséphine de , Kim Higelin and Mehdi Meskar are all excellent.

A bear in the Jura is a funny, surprising film, whose strength lies in its characters full of humanity, contradictions and who have this little amoral side. Faced with 2 million euros found in the trunk of a car, it is difficult to resist, whether you are a Christmas tree seller, a priest or a police officer.
