Shop windows and scooters vandalized in Geneva: a thirty-year-old sentenced

What fly bit a 35-year-old man on July 23? That day, around 6:30 a.m., according to witnesses, he kicked scooters parked in a street in the Plainpalais district of Geneva, before throwing a stone into the window of a business. In total, eight establishments including an armory, a motorcycle garage and even a bar were targeted. Result: around ten windows broken without the stores being robbed.

Heard the day after the events, the defendant disputed the alleged facts and refused to answer the questions. It is therefore difficult to know his motivations. In addition, the Geneva Public Prosecutor’s Office accused him of having driven at 143 km/h on a section of highway limited to 80 on May 19, 2024. A speeding excess committed at the wheel of the car of the mother of his children left abroad during this period.

The 30-year-old was found guilty of damage to property and serious violation of road traffic rules by criminal order. He was sentenced to a suspended fine of 180 days (50 francs per day). He objected. A trial will therefore take place.
