In a recent interview with New York Magazine, actor Adrien Brody commented that he suffered post-traumatic disorder after starring in The Pianist.

In that performance that earned him an Oscar for Best Actor, Brody plays Wadysaw Szpilmana musician who survived the Holocaust, for which he prepared by following a diet taken to the limit that led him to weigh only 57 kilos.

It was a physical transformation necessary to tell stories. But then that opened me up, spiritually, to a deep understanding of emptiness and hunger in a way I had never known before,” Adrien Brody recalled.

When asked about the effects he had after his performance, the actor stated that in addition to having post-traumatic stress, he suffered other collateral damage. “Yeah. I have suffered it. “I definitely had an eating disorder for at least a year.”he added. “And then I was depressed for a yearif not all life. “I'm kidding, I'm kidding,” he commented.
