A new movie The Mummy will see the light of day, produced by Atomic Monster, Blumhouse and Doppelgängers, with an intriguing director at the helm.
In 2017, with The MummyUniversal launched the Dark Universe (its Marvel Cinematic Universe with monsters). Unfortunately (or not?), the film with Tom Cruise was very poorly received by critics (15% on Rotten Tomatoes) and the public (125 million budget according to Box-office Mojofor 80 million domestic revenues and 409 million worldwide). Since then, the Dark Universe has been buried, but according to the Hollywood Reportera new film The Mummy would be in preparation.
The Mummy, the return of the living dead
Produced by Atomic Monster (James Wan's company), Blumhouse and Doppelgängers, this new film will be directed by Lee Cronin for New Line. The filmmaker recently made a name for himself with the likable gore delirium Evil Dead Rise. No clue has yet been revealed about the plot of this new feature film. Nevertheless, at the microphone of ReporterLee Cronin promised that he would modernize this cult figure of the mummified monster.

As a reminder, Evil Dead Rise has been a huge hit in 2023. Made for $12 million, the New Line film grossed 67 million at the domestic box office and 147 million worldwide. For his part, The Mummy has appeared several times in the cinema. To name only its most famous iterations, there is the version with Boris Karloff (1932), The Curse of the Pharaohs with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee (1959), as well as the two films directed by Stephen Sommers (1999, 2001).
The Mummysigned Lee Cronin, was first announced last March as a mystery project, scheduled for release on April 17, 2026 in the United States. The film will arrive in our French cinemas on April 15, 2026.
