A superhero of…mouse size
The Canadian actor, through his production company Maximum Effort Productionsis currently working on the film adaptation of the famous cartoon Mighty Mousein collaboration with Paramount Animation. The screenplay will be written by Matt Lieberman, who previously worked with Reynolds on the adventure film Free Guy in 2021.
A heroic rodent
Mighty Mouse, this rodent superhero dressed in his iconic red and yellow costume, made his debut in the short film The Mouse of Tomorrow in 1942. Quickly renamed Mighty Mouse, he went on to star in nearly a hundred short films over the next two decades. It was even brought up to date in the 80s for a new generation of fans with the series Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures.
A long-awaited project
Paramount has been planning to bring the character to the screen since the early 2000s. With Reynolds' production company involved and a new script currently being written, it appears the project is finally starting to come to fruition. Reynolds' exact role in the film, beyond his role as producer, however, remains to be clarified.
This year, Reynolds also starred in the family film IF by John Krasinski, which pays homage to imaginary friends. The Mighty Mouse movie release date has not yet been announced.
