On Netflix, “Fall” has been enjoying particular success in recent days: everyone who is afraid of heights should take their turn, because the entire film plays on it… and brilliantly.
Gain height
Previously accustomed to action films, having notably signed Bus 357 in 2015 with a nice trio composed of Robert de Niro, Dave Bautista and Jeffret Dean Morgan, or even Final Score in 2019 (with Pierce Brosnan, Ray Stevenson and again Dave Bautista ), Scott Mann has now found his new playground: the climbing thriller and for once, there are a few tenors who have served as an example in the past. Cliffhanger with Stallone, to name but one.
Fall, released in 2022, is Mann’s last film: we follow the climbing of a metal tower in the middle of the desert by two young women played by Grace Caroline Curry and Virginia Gardner, the first having lost her boyfriend during the ascent of a particularly dangerous mountain. Traumatized, she is convinced to “overcome her fears” by putting her foot back on track, except that nothing goes as planned and the two friends find themselves stuck at a height in a very unfortunate position that we wouldn’t wish on anyone.
A critical success
It turns out that despite its ultimately quite simple concept – we’re talking about a closed-door high up in the middle of… nothing – Fall finally managed to convince the critics and the spectators. For both, it’s a nice score of 79% that we can find on Rotten Tomatoes. “The protagonists, along with the cinematography, the music and the sheer terror you’ll feel, make Fall worth watching”declares for example the media Loud and Clear Reviews. “Fall is a solid, well-acted and overall effective thriller that nevertheless succeeds with strong visuals, motivated characters and a brisk pace”affirms Fiction Machine. Finally, Decider believes that “director Scott Mann effectively exploits everything that will make you tighten your glutes”just that.
In short, if these few lines have made you want to take a look and your stomach is in good shape, know that Fall is currently available on Netflix where it is in second place among the most viewed programs of the moment. A great comeback for this film released two years ago. Moreover, Scott Mann will produce Fall 2 and Fall 3, scheduled for 2022 and 2025 respectively, and will even ensure the production of the third part.
