Sandra Ducasse will be present in cinemas in the Basque Country to accompany her film. (Justine Bonnery)

Sandra Ducasse returns to the documentary scene with her fourth feature film “The Shepherdess’ Response”. To mark the release of the film, broadcast on 3 , the director is touring theaters in the Basque Country from November 12. Film exchanges are planned in Saint-Palais, Cambo and Mauléon.

Through the portrait of Manon, a young shepherdess committed to fighting animal suffering, the documentary filmmaker questions this theme that is prevalent in agricultural life. Before becoming a breeder in Aude near , Manon was vegetarian and city dweller. Since she settled down, she has been raising her sheep and trying to accompany them until their last breath. With other breeders in her region, she plans to create a mobile slaughterhouse. Like a dialogue filmed throughout the seasons, “The Shepherdess’ Response” sheds light on our relationship with nature, animals, consumption, life and death.
