Disappeared from Disney+, this critically acclaimed horror film finds a second life on Netflix and becomes the most viewed feature film of the moment on the streaming platform.
What if we took advantage of public holidays and May bridges to scare ourselves? Netflix subscribers can now discover a horror film released two years ago that took everyone by surprise. After having seduced the critics and the first spectators who saw it on Disney +, it is the turn of the streaming giant’s subscribers to be seduced. The feature film sits in first place among the most viewed films of the moment on Disney+.
Directed by Zach Cregger (actor of Wrecked which passes here to realization), Barbaric follows the story of Tess, who rents a place on Airbnb in Detroit before going to a job interview. Arriving late at night, she discovers that the house is already occupied by a man, Keith, who has also rented the place. The surrounding hotels were full, so she decided to spend the night there and share the house. However, she is awakened by strange sounds and will make terrifying discoveries in the cellar.
In the casting, Netflix subscribers may recognize Georgina Campbell in the leading role, actress seen in Bird Box Barcelona, Krypton, Broadchurch or Black Mirror. She plays opposite Bill Skarsgård (the terrifying clown from That) and Justin Long (Die Hard 4, Dodgeball, New Girl…) in a counter-employment role.
Released quite confidentially in France directly on Disney+ two years ago (before disappearing recently), Barbaric had already won over the critics. On Allociné, the film obtained a press rating of 4.2/5 (out of only 5 titles listed) and 3.4/5 from the public. Across the Atlantic, the film received 93% positive reviews from the press. In the French territory, the media have praised a “puzzle film” which becomes a “monster movie”, and which is listed as “the horror film of the year” 2022 for Les Inrockuptibles. L’Ecran Fantastique hailed it as “a little marvel which is based on a clever, perfectly crafted script and a solid and inspired direction”.
Uploaded on May 2 on Netflix, the horror film aroused the curiosity of subscribers to the streaming platform since Barbaric is the most viewed feature film currently on the site. On social networks, many recommend Zach Cregger’s feature film: “BANGER. To watch after 10 p.m. and in complete darkness”, advises one of the X users, “watch the film it’s incredible” writes another. Fans of the genre can therefore go for it without hesitation! Barbaric is currently available on Netflix.
