Killer Heat : what is this film about on Amazon Prime Video?

In Crete (Greece), Nick Bali, an American private detective investigates the disappearance of Leo Vardakis (Richard Madden), maritime transport magnate, who died following an accidental fall while climbing in very strange circumstances… Indeed, the The victim’s sister-in-law, married to her twin brother Théo, has many suspicions and does not believe the official police report. During his research, the investigator discovers the dark secrets of the powerful Vardakis family. Killer Heat marks the return to the forefront of an actor who has been discreet in the cinema for several years: the talented Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He also finds Shailene Woodley there, his playing partner in the excellent Snowden d’Oliver Stone.

Killer Heat, neither good nor bad

Classic in its construction, the plot revolves around three characters who are decisive for the progress of the investigation. However, the writing fails. And these turn out to be far too caricatured… Like that of Nick Bali, hardly spared from stereotypes – the alcoholic with a troubled past – and this despite the convincing interpretation of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, supported on screen by the solid performance from Shailene Woodley, perfect in her role. Conversely, the prize for the biggest disappointment certainly goes to Richard Madden, whose character sorely lacks depth. The film nevertheless proves gripping through some welcome moments of tension, which breathe a certain dynamic into the whole. All filmed in the sublime Cretan landscapes. Without being completely missed, Killer Heat certainly does not revolutionize the genre and lacks ambition. It is like the vast majority of productions on streaming platforms: forgettable and ideal for relieving the boredom of an evening.
