Director of the next opus of the saga, “Romulus”, Fede Alvarez took advantage of the first world day dedicated to “Alien” to unveil the facehugger of his film: an animatronic creature which risks sending shivers down your spine.

Like Wars (May 4), the Alien saga now has its world day. It was this Friday, April 26, a day chosen in reference to the planet LV426, central in the universe of the franchise created by Ridley Scott. Director of the next opus, expected in our theaters on August 14, Fede Alvarez took advantage of the opportunity to offer us a slightly creepy gift.

As iconic as the xenomorph, the facehugger will also be back in Alien: Romulus. And it won’t be digital. At least when it crawls at high speed on the ground towards its future prey, in which it will undoubtedly lay eggs. Its nature will perhaps change when it jumps in the face of one of the victims, but everything suggests that practical effects will be favored, as much as possible.

A way, for Fede Alvarez, to return to the sources of the saga launched in 1979. Thanks to the film by Ridley Scott in which the xenomorph was played by an actor in a costume. If it is not necessarily planned that Romulus will go that far, the director worked closely with Weta Workshop (which became world famous at the same time as a reference thanks to Lord of the Rings) so that what appears on the screen appears palpable.

If no one hears you scream in space, it must have been different for the actors of this feature film interspersed between the plot of the first two opuses (those of Ridley Scott and James Cameron therefore). Which will confront a group of young people with one of the most terrifying creatures in the history of cinema.

A particularly bloody film?

Isabela Merced (Madame Web and soon ), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone) and Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla, Civil War) are in the cast of this Alien: Romulus which promises to be particularly bloody according to the actors.

And these are not the first images, revealed last March, which will contradict them.
