the director reassures Marvel fans about this MCU problem

Shawn Levy, director of Deadpool & Wolverine reassures fans (and less fans) who have not followed all the Marvel films and series.

A few days ago, the trailer for Deadpool 3 made everything explode for the return of Wolverine… everything exploded, or almost. Generic settings, 80s pop music and iconic slow motion: if violence and meta are back, it is clear that this trailer does not exude originality. Let us note, however, that these new images are action-packed: what is there to expect at least generous entertainment?

Deadpool 3: should we rewatch all of Marvel?

At any rate, Deadpool & Wolverine should play an essential role in a Marvel Cinematic Universe in transition by hooking up the X-Men wagon to the world of the Avengers. However, according to director Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Free Guy, Adam through time), received for an interview by Associated Press, rewatching the entire MCU shouldn’t be essential to follow the plot of this Deadpool 3 (And that’s good) :

“I was a good student at school. Today, I am a serious adult, but I absolutely do not want to have homework to do when I go to the cinema. I really made this film with a form of respect and gratitude to the passionate fans who perfectly master the mythology and lore of these characters and this universe. But I didn’t want to allow myself that. This film is designed as entertainment, without any obligation for prior preparation and research. .”

Deadpool & Wolverine: photo“References to the MCU? Where?”

The message is clear: if Deadpool & Wolverine is the thirty-fourth feature film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and follows less than ten series, the film directed by Shawn Levy is made for everyone (or almost since it is prohibited for those under unaccompanied 17-year-olds in the States). Promotional strategy to attract audiences who are less fans of the franchise or promise of entertainment that will not be locked into an overly referential straitjacket? To find out, you will have to watch the film next July 24 in our French cinemas.
