Challengers

Subscribe to Lemon Squeezer

Challengers, this is the big release of this week. On display ? Zendaya, the darling of Hollywood, as well as Mike Faist (West Side Story) and Josh O’Connor (The Crown). The controls ? Luca Guadagnino, director of Call me by your name And Bones & All.

Challengers takes us to a clay court. Art is a tennis champion in decline. What better way to restore his confidence than a low-level tournament, which he is sure to win? But when he has to face his former best friend, Patrick, in the final, the past resurfaces and it’s not a pretty sight. Years ago, the two young men succumbed to the charm of the captivating and talented Tashi…

The feature film offers us a sultry love triangle and constant tension, reinforced by audacious staging and a powerful soundtrack. Between complex writing, which takes us into the depths of human relationships, and particularly remarkable actors, Challengers deserves all the excitement it arouses.

First Affair

The life of Nora, a young lawyer, is turned upside down when she is faced with her first criminal case. Based on a true story, First Affair highlights the cruelty of the environment. Between the sensitivity of her young client and the seriousness of the crime of which he is accused, Nora vacillates and questions her choices… The transition from theory to practice will profoundly change young Nora.

With an average of 3.5 out of 5 for AlloCiné spectators and a rating of 3 out of 5 for the press, First Affair is above all an opportunity for Noée Abita to shine, she who carries the film by portraying young Nora.

Riddle of Fire

Released last week, Riddle of Fire is the ideal film to watch with the family. At the crossroads of Gooniesof Club of Five or even Tom Sawyer, Riddle of fire invites us to follow a trio of children in search of the parental code for their new console and the family recipe for blueberry pie. But funny adventures happen to them. An epic that reeks of nostalgia and brings a breath of fresh air to dark rooms. Perfect for young and old alike.

Riddle of Fire won over AlloCiné spectators (3.8 out of 5) but also the press (3.6 out of 5). The feature film was presented during the Filmmakers’ Fortnight at the Film Festival and caused a sensation with the public.

Borgo

Melissa is a seasoned prison guard who has just moved to Corsica with her family to make a fresh start. But she will quickly discover that here, it is the prisoners who monitor the guards. Saveriu is an influential inmate who takes a liking to her and places her under his protection, which facilitates her integration. But the young man’s release shakes Melissa’s daily life…

Borgo surprises with its breathtaking plot from start to finish and plunges us into a hellish spiral. The performances of the actors are praised by the press (3.9) and by the spectators (4). While Borgo was released in theaters last week, it’s not yet too late to find out.
