Although Zézette is now one of the most important protagonists of the play and film of the same name, there was a time when Marie-Anne Chazel wanted to get away from this role at all costs.which stuck too much to her skin. The actress revealed during the show that after the success of the comedy on the boards, all the characters that were offered to her were Josette 2.0, and that she was fed up: « I tended to be offered a lot of sub-Josette. Which really pissed me off because what was being offered to me was generally much less well written, and then I didn’t really see what more I could do. So I wanted to go somewhere else and to do something else, so it’s true that it was a bit heavy.”

Seeing that Marie-Anne Chazel was moving further and further away from Zézette, Coluche spoke to the actress to tell her about it: ” He tried to convince me all night that I was still keeping this character alive. I had created a character that was good. There weren’t a lot of female comedic characters at that time. ” then confided the actress to Nathalie Lévy. The interpreter of Ginette in The Visitors wanted more serious roles and not to be reduced to comedies at this point in her career. The comedian insisted that she stay on stage: “But you have to continue Josette, this character!’ And it didn’t resonate with me.. I said to myself: ‘Yes, I like playing it, I love it’ but I didn’t see myself getting into that spiral, I wanted to play something else. »

Despite Coluche’s arguments, Marie-Anne Chazel stuck to her original decision and withdrew from the distribution of the Santa Claus is a bastard for a while, before finally returning in the costume of Zézette in the feature film by Jean-Marie Poiré in 1982.
