The Valencia Grand Prix was canceled in 2024, due to devastating floods which affected the region. MotoGP, however, did not turn its back on the city which was to host the final of this 2024 season. A few weeks later, the championship closed its accounts. He can therefore reveal the total amount of the sum that he will donate to victim assistance associations. In total, 1.6 million euros were raised. During the Barcelona Grand Prix, as well as through auctions and donation campaigns organized in the following weeks.
A figure largely fueled by Dorna Sports, the company that holds MotoGP rights, author of a final donation that was generous to say the least. “Instead of simply donating the profits generated by the sale of tickets as part of the investment made for the organization of the event, Dorna has decided to increase its contribution in recognition of this collective effort and to donate of one million euros to the funds raised for Valencia. »
Thanks to the commitment of MotoGP fans, the auctions held on site and online, most often offering those interested items belonging to the riders, made it possible to raise more than 300,000 euros.

An action for Valencia among others
The teams, through their association, IRTA, also made a significant donation of 100,000 euros for Valencia. The Barcelona Chamber of Commerce made a donation of 50,000 euros. As a reminder, sales of tickets, t-shirts and other products were also used to fund the MotoGP fundraising fund.
The amount collected will therefore be used for the reconstruction of the towns located around the Ricardo Tormo circuit. Cities that “usually benefit from the positive economic impact of hosting the season finale.” As Dorna’s official communication suggests.
This initiative was only that of MotoGP. Other players in the paddock have also launched theirs. The Aspar team, which competes in Moto2, as well as Moto3, has for example created its own fundraising fund.
Made public shortly before the weekend in Barcelona, the team based in the Valencia region raised more than 150,000 euros. Some MotoGP riders notably contributed to this prize pool.
