Weekend format changes to Moto2™ and Moto3™ in 2025

The Grands Prix commission has approved some changes to the sporting and technical regulations concerning the Moto2™ and Moto3™ categories for 2025. The first concerns the format of the sessions.

Following the success of the new format in MotoGP™ offering a balance between Q2 entry and track time for teams and riders to work on settings, the structure of sessions for Moto2™ and Moto3™ will change in 2025 in order to establish uniformity between categories. Thus, Moto2™ and Moto3™ riders will have two free practice sessions which will have no impact on the rest of the weekend as well as a Practice on Friday afternoon which will decide who enters Q2.

Changes have also been made to the regulations in the event of rain on the grid. From now on, the procedure will be the same as in MotoGP™, meaning the bikes will be pushed into the pit lane to make adjustments.

In terms of technical regulations, the price cap for Moto3™ chassis and engines has been adjusted, as well as the freezing of Moto3™ specifications. Finally, manufacturers benefiting from Moto2™ concessions will also obtain more testing days.
