MotoGP, Indonesia J1, Pedro Acosta (GASGAS/8): after a fall, the rookie bounces back and scores a top 10

Pedro Acosta started his weekend in Indonesia with confidence and determination, building on his previous successes on the circuit and his strong performance at Misano. During the first free practice session, the young driver immediately showed his intentions, setting the fourth best time after eighteen laps, with a time of 1’31.271, just 0.582 seconds behind leader Franco Morbidelli. A good start for the rookie, who quickly adapted to the Mandalika track.

In the afternoon, Acosta continued his momentum, setting a fast lap at the start of the session which propelled him to the top of the timesheets. However, he also suffered a crash in Turn 1, after trying to save the day in spectacular fashion. This setback did not discourage him, and he returned to his box to make the necessary adjustments.

Back on the track, Pedro Acosta demonstrated exemplary resilience. Getting back on his bike, he set a time of 1’30.411, thus temporarily regaining the lead in the ranking. Despite tough competition, he continued to lower his times and finally completed his penultimate lap in
1’29.961. This time earned him 8th position and, above all, a direct ticket for Q2a crucial objective for the rest of the weekend.

it was a good day overall, with many improvements made to the bike which allowed us to take a good step between morning and afternoon ».

« We were missing a little something in the fast laps, but we kept a competitive and positive race pace. We need to make some decisions for tomorrow’s sprint, but we are on the right track. »

With a solid rhythm and a positive attitude, Pedro Acosta seems ready to take on the challenge of this Indonesian weekend. His goal: to position himself ideally on the grid and continue to impress during his rookie season in MotoGP.
