Marc Marquez’s poor qualifying thwarted his plans for the sprint race

Author of the twelfth fastest time during this morning’s qualifying session, Marc Marquez achieved the feat during this sprint event. The Spaniard crossed the finish line in third position, just behind Enea Bastanini. In difficulty during the first riding sessions of the day, marked by several falls, the six-time champion finished well. Thanks to Jorge Martin’s mistake and a solid pace, the native of Cervera was able to get on the podium. By observing the Pramac driver on the ground from the first lap, the latter reflected a lot on his aggressive driving style.

Marc Marquez’s statement after the Indonesian GP sprint race

“We had a great start today. I made a big mistake in qualifying. So that made things more difficult, but the race was good. I followed the fastest drivers. And I I had small problems in the second part of the race, I wanted to stay on the podium. It’s the best way to make mistakes. [En parlant de piloter à la limite] It’s true that I’m one of the drivers who takes the most risks. We can clearly see this during practice and qualifying sessions. But I have to fix that for the future, because you can’t do that every race. I tried to follow him. [En parlant de Pecco Bagnaia] He had a better pace than me and he was very fast. And then I saw Enea Bastianini coming back, he was arriving very quickly. I knew he was going to pass me. I said to myself “go overtake me and I don’t want to waste time and keep this podium”.
