The latest epidemiological surveillance bulletin for acute respiratory infections from Public Health (SpF) issued on January 23, recalls that the influenza epidemic is still ongoing in . “Apart from hospitalizations, all indicators are increasing.” 1,600 new patients have been recorded since January 13.

1600 new cases of flu were identified by the network of sentinel doctors in Martinique between January 13 and 23. During the previous 4 weeks, 995 patients had been recorded according to the latest epidemiological surveillance bulletin for acute respiratory infections from Public Health France.

The vaccination campaign is still in progress until January 31, recalls SpF.

It targets all people aged 65 and over with comorbidities, with a high risk of a serious form of the disease, immunocompromised people, pregnant women, residents in follow-up care or medico-social establishments whatever their status. age, as well as people living in the entourage or in regular contact with those who are immunocompromised or vulnerable to severe forms of infection, including health professionals.

“Vaccination is also open to children aged 2 to 17 and over” adds the health authority. This also recommends barrier gestures to protect against these respiratory infections.

In addition to existing vaccinations and preventive treatments, the adoption of barrier gestures remains essential to protect oneself from all [ces] illnesses: hand washing, regular ventilation of rooms, wearing a mask in the event of symptoms (fever, sore throat or cough), in busy places and in the presence of vulnerable people.
