The leader of the MotoGP general classification, the Spaniard Jorge Martin, can be crowned world champion this Saturday, during the Sprint race of the Barcelona Grand Prix, the last round of the season.
It's time for the end of the 2024 MotoGP season. If the titles have already been awarded in the lower categories, with the coronations of David Alonso in Moto3 and Ai Ogura in Moto2, the suspense remains intact in the premier category. Two drivers are still in the running for the title.
The leader of the world championship, the Spaniard Jorge Martin, is 24 points ahead of his runner-up, the Italian Francesco Bagnaia. And in Barcelona – which replaces Valencia – there will be 37 points distributed: 25 for the winner of the Grand Prix and 12 for the one who wins the sprint race on Saturday.
“Martinator”, crowned in Moto3 in 2018 and who has won 8 Grand Prix in his career, including 3 this year, can therefore be champion from Saturday if he wins the sprint. The 26-year-old driver could become the first to win the title behind a private team (Pramac).
Jorge Martin champion from the sprint
If he wins, it doesn't matter what Bagnaia's result is
If he finishes second and Bagnaia finishes third or lower
If he finishes third and Bagnaia finishes fifth or lower
If he finishes fourth and Bagnaia finishes sixth or lower
If he finishes fifth and Bagnaia finishes seventh or lower
If he finishes sixth and Bagnaia finishes eighth or lower

If he finishes eighth and Bagnaia finishes beyond ninth place
Any other result and we will have to wait for Sunday's race depending on the result of this sprint.
