This season of MotoGP keeps all its promises and Japanese Grand Prix played this Sunday was further proof of this. Jorge Martín, after a big scare at the end of the race, finished in second place. He remains 10 points ahead of Francesco Bagnaia in the general classification of MotoGP World Championship. Bagnaia won the race, while Marc Marquez completed the podium in third position, signing his eighth top 3 of the season
Saturday’s sprint race had already given a taste of the weekend, with Bagnaia winning ahead of Enea Bastianini, Márquez and Martín in fourth position. Pedro Acostapole sitter for Sunday’s premier event, saw his hopes of victory collapse in the third round following a fall. At the start of the main race, Bagnaia wasted no time in taking first place, while Martín, starting from 11th position, began an impressive comeback.
On lap ten, the Spaniard closed the gap on Bagnaia to just 0.6 seconds, but a mistake in turn 3 forced him to slow down and settle for second place. He admitted after the race: “I was at the limit, but under control, then I lost the front quite heavily… I decided that enough was enough, these 20 points are precious for the championship. »
Behind, Marc Márquez once again demonstrated all his experience by fighting for third place, winning against Bastianini and Binder. This podium confirms the form of the Spanish driver, who continues to shine this season. Binder finished sixth, while teammate Jack Miller crossed the line in 10th, followed by Johann Zarco in 11th. The fight for the title remains open between Bagnaia and Martín, with only 4 events remaining in this MotoGP season.
