MotoGP Japan J3, Jorge Martin (Ducati/2): “Bagnaia said he wanted to fight, so he cut the gas! »

Jorge Martin had a good Japanese Grand Prix. While his meeting seemed compromised by a failed qualifying, the Spaniard recovered rather well during the two races, especially this Sunday. He planned ahead, without delay, and was forced to chase Pecco Bagnaia throughout the entire ordeal, but without ever really being able to get close. He accepts this second place and these 20 points which will undoubtedly be very useful to him in view of the world championship.

He didn’t seem really disappointed upon arrival. A good player, Jorge Martin congratulated his rival for the crown, without really holding back. « Pecco Bagnaia makes me better, I think we push each other. But the other day he said he’d like us to fight, so cut the gas! » he told Sky Sports microphones in a joking tone. It’s hard to say whether this friendly approach really serves him in such a close fight.

Then, Jorge Martin returned in more detail to his race.
« I asked a lot of my tires at the start, to catch up on the grid. When I caught up with Pecco, I was already at the limit. In fact, it’s like I knew I was going to finish second. When we prepare to overtake, we do it naturally” continued the main person concerned. It’s clear that he didn’t really have any difficulty getting back to the lead, but it was as expected, we suspected that he was going to be very successful. However, he has dealt with some big clients, as he points out:
“I had to get rid of Brad Binder and Marc Marquez”.

The Spaniard returned to his plan for the end of this season. « The goal is to arrive in Valencia with the possibility of winning, but I hope to do it before then. There are good tracks on which I could gain more points. But you have to arrive in Valencia with options, with possibilities » he concluded.

What do you think of his approach, with four races to go? Tell us in the comments!
