Nahdat Berkane announces a new decision regarding its participation in the Excellence Cup – Moroccan Depth

Nahdat Berkane Football Club has taken an important decision regarding its participation in the first edition of the Excellence Cup, which will start on Tuesday evening.

The Berkane club decided to play its first match in the new competition, the Excellence Cup, with the Hope team (under 23 years old), instead of including ten of its players with the first team, as stipulated by the Professional Football League.

In response to this decision, the Berkane fans welcomed this step and considered it in the interest of both teams (the first team and the hope team), as they considered that the participation of the hope team would enable the first team to focus on the professional championship competitions and the African Confederation Cup, and that this competition is an opportunity for the hope players to raise their level and football performance.

The League has previously imposed on clubs participating in this competition to register no less than 10 players under 23 years of age on the match sheet and the mandatory participation of no less than 06 players under 23 years of age throughout the match.

Nahdat Berkane will begin its journey in the Excellence Cup today, Tuesday, by facing Widad Fez, in the first round of the competition. The match will be held on the grounds of the club’s academy annex, at eight o’clock in the evening, without an audience.

Nahdat Berkane is in the third group out of eight groups, along with Maghreb Fez, Widad Fez and Raja Beni Mellal.

The first day of the first round will witness seven matches, the most important of which will be between the representatives of the administrative capital, the Royal Army and the Union of Yaacoub El Mansour, and between the representatives of Souss, Olympique Dcheira and Hassania Agadir.

While the match between Raja Casablanca and KAC Kenitra is considered the summit match of this round, as the match will be held on Wednesday, September 4, starting at six o’clock in the evening, in addition to eight matches.

The Excellence Cup will be held in two rounds. During the first round (group stage), the clubs distributed into eight groups will play home and away matches, with each group including four teams according to a distribution consistent with the ranking of the previous sports season, with the relegated second division teams being replaced by newly promoted teams.

The teams that finish first and second in each group will qualify for the second round (final round), and will play the round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals, home and away, after which the ranking and final matches will be held.
