It could have just became a lot more serious, according to reports.

A Premier League star could reportedly face a risk of being banned for life, as per a report.

A crucial player in the league, it would have a catastrophic effect on the club.

Lucas Paqueta of West Ham is currently being investigated in an ongoing alleged betting case and his old phone could identify him in even more trouble, as per The Sun.

The Hammers star handed his phone into the FA 12 months ago, after an investigation began regarding suspicious betting patterns.

The FA then kept his phone for approximately eight weeks during last Autumn, analysing call logs, messages and bank records.

During this period, it is reported that Paqueta bought a replacement handset.

And after that, it is reported that he threw out the phone when it was returned to him.

The player was then reportedly unable to locate his phone at a later date when the FA required it.

As a result, the have FA accused him of obstructing their probe with the charges issued in May, including two aggravated breaches for non-cooperation.

Paqueta was originally accused of suspicious booking in four games – Leicester City, Aston Villa, Leeds United and Bournemouth.

The hearing is expected to take place next March, however the verdict is not expected until after the season, meaning that Paqueta is free to play for the rest of the season.
