Boudewijn Zenden is full of praise for Ryan Flamingo’s performance against Sporting Portugal. With the 21-year-old defender in the starting line-up, PSV seemed to be on its way to a 1-0 victory for a long time, but just before the end the score was leveled: 1-1.

PSV made it 1-0 after fifteen minutes of play through Jerdy Schouten. The club then had several chances to double the score, but they were unable to do so. Seven minutes before the end, PSV was defeated when Daniel Bragança made it 1-1. That also turned out to be the final score.

After the match, Zenden is present Ziggo Sports praising Flamingo. “I really thought he was fantastic today,” the analyst begins his praise.

“And we also talked about it in the stands. If you get that role in one-on-one play, it actually becomes very easy. Because you have only one task: to eliminate that man,” Zenden refers to PSV’s tactics and the role that Flamingo had in it: entering into duels with striker Viktor Gyökeres.

“He really did a fantastic job. In the duels, in the speed, heading duels, getting in front of his man… We actually didn’t see that striker at all. He really did a fantastic job, he was everywhere.”

PSV coach Peter Bosz is also full of praise for Flamingo. “I thought we were in a good position, I thought we applied good pressure.”

“Daring, because you play one on one with that dangerous striker. Of course, Ryan did a great job,” said Bosz.
