There was a “health incident” in which a male visitor died, BVB said.

The death of a fan has overshadowed the farewell match of the two Polish ex-professionals Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Blaszczykowski at Borussia Dortmund. There was “a health incident in which a male visitor died,” the club announced: “Our condolences go out to the family, all friends and relatives. Rest in peace.”

No further information was initially available. BVB said it was “sad news at the end of an emotional day”.

On Saturday, the club bid farewell to its former crowd favourites Piszczek and Blaszczykowski at the “farewell match” in front of 81,365 spectators under the motto “Bye-bye”. Jürgen Klopp sat on the bench as coach for Blaszczykowski’s team.
