Chakib Benmoussa, Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, warned senior officials in his ministry against approaching public money.

Benmoussa, during the press conference he held today, Friday, to talk about the developments of the 2024/2025 school year, and in response to a question about his ministry’s new vision for governance in the education sector, after the scandal of embezzlement of the emergency plan during the period 2009 and 2012, said that his ministry does not spend billions of dirhams as published in the press.

The Minister of National Education stated that a large part of the increase in the ministry’s budget goes to cover additional employee wages or supplementary compensation.

At the same time, Benmoussa adds: “Of course, we always have to be careful because it concerns the management of public money, and the ministry is not centralized, but rather spread throughout the country… and at the same time, we do not continue to do anything.”

Benmoussa explained that many specializations were removed from the management of the ministry, such as buildings, dormitories, food, security, and cleaning.

The Minister of National Education, speaking about the criticism directed at his office and senior officials in his ministry, responded by saying: “My cabinet has 8 people and education reform requires cadres.”
