At the end of the first day of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, France is 5th thanks to its medals, 1 gold and 2 silver. Here is the summary of the French on the podium today.
Ugo Didier se pare d’or
- In the 400m freestyle S9, Ugo Didier gave the French delegation its first gold. The atmosphere was festive around the pool where the 22-year-old para-swimmer finished first in 4 min 12 sec 55. He finished ahead of the Italian Simone Barlaam and the Australian Brenden Hall. He will try to win new medals in the 50m freestyle on Monday, the 100m backstroke on Tuesday and the 200m individual medley on Thursday.
Marie Patouillet and Alex Portal in silver
- Marie Patouillet finished behind the Dutch Caroline Groot in 35.566 seconds in the 500 meters in track cycling. She obtained the first medal of the competition for the Tricolores.
- Alex Portal came to conclude the beautiful French day with a new medal, in silver, in the 100m butterfly. He beat his own record in 54”38 but finished behind Ihar Boki (54”13).

French medal chances on Tuesday August 30
- On Friday, Dorian Foulon, in track cycling, will have another chance at a medal. He will start in the 1000 m time trial, C4-5. The same goes for Gatien le Rousseau.
- In pursuit, we will find Alexandre Léauté in C2, announced as a possible star of these Games.
- The 10m rifle shooting standing SH2 will also be one to watch, with Kévin Liot and Thomas de la Forest as favourites.
- In table tennis, Fabien Lamirault and Julien Michaud can win bronze in MD4 men’s doubles, unless they qualify for the final.
- Mandy François-Elie believes in her medal in the 200m (T37) and Sophie Caverzan (-57 kg, K44) will try her luck in taekwondo.
