Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi, recently transferred to Panathinaikos on loan, spoke on Tuesday, September 3, after his arrival in Athens. Here are his first impressions.

Atlas Lion Azzedine Ounahi, recently loaned to Athenian club Panathinaikos for a season, has been interviewed This Tuesday, September 3, by the media Pao Pantou, close to Panathinakos. Here are his first words.

“I could have chosen to take money and stay at OM, but I finally chose to come to Panathinaikos which remains an ambitious club. My goal is to find my place and be the Ounahi that everyone is waiting for,” he first said.

And he continued: “I am a real number 8, but I have also played in several positions in midfield, whether as number 6 or as a second number 8.” Before insisting: “I now need to get back on the pitch, to my level and work hard to have the best season of my career.”

He concluded: “I have already played against Panathinaikos in the Champions League last season. I know that this club has great supporters, but this is not unfamiliar to me since I played in front of supporters who are considered among the best in the world, those of Olympique de Marseille, and those of Panathinaikos have nothing to envy the Phocéens. I am sure that they will be behind us until the end of the season.”

As a reminder, Azzedine Ounahi has been called up by Walid Regragui for the next two outings of the Atlas Lions against Gabon and Lesotho, respectively on September 6 and 9, for the qualifiers for the next Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) Morocco-2025.
