Milan remained without a win after three rounds of the new season in the Italian Football League, after drawing 2-2 with host Lazio on Saturday.

Milan had previously drawn 2-2 with Torino in the first stage, before losing 1-2 to Parma, achieving its worst start in years.

Milan opened a new page this season with the arrival of Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca, replacing Stefano Pioli, and signed several players, most notably French midfielder Youssef Fofana from Monaco, English striker Tammy Abraham from Roma, and Spaniard Alvaro Morata.

Surprisingly, Fonseca decided not to include his compatriot, Portuguese winger Rafael Leao, and French defender Theo Hernandez, both of whom usually play as starters.

Milan opened the scoring early after just two minutes when American Christian Pulisic lifted a corner kick to be headed into the net by Serbian defender Strahinja Pavlovic.

Lazio managed to equalize through Argentine Valentin Castellanos, taking advantage of a cross pass from Portuguese left-back Nuno Tavares (62).

Fonseca was forced to bring on the duo Leao and Hernandez, and the former managed to score the equaliser with a pass from the latter, one minute after they came on, and fired a powerful shot into the capital team’s net (72).

France goalkeeper Mike Maignan saved his team, Milan, from a certain goal, when he brilliantly stopped Mattia Zaccagni’s attempt (80).
