At the end of the second day of the CAN 2025 qualifiers, Madagascar remains in fourth place in Group A, a Group dominated by Tunisia which has won two in a row (6 points). Second place is occupied by Comoros, and Gambia is third. Madagascar ends these first two days with a record of one draw and one defeat.

Madagascar and Comoros draw 1-1 on Monday, September 9, 2024, in an Indian Ocean derby for the second day of the CAN 2025 qualifiers. The goals were scored in the first half. Coach Romuald Rakotondrabe chose to field almost the same starting 11 as the one that played against Tunisia on September 5. The only change was Carolus replacing Warren at the forefront of the Barea attack. Madagascar also scored its first point in these qualifiers thanks to Carolus. He opened the scoring in the 10th minute of play on a great move by Rado. Youssouf M’Changama equalized in the 41st minute for Comoros.

Thus, out of the six points set as the national team’s objective during these first days, the Barea have only collected one. The day before the match against the Comoros, Coah Roro Rakotondrabe stressed that Madagascar needs a good result and points to qualify for the CAN. The 3rd and 4th days of these qualifiers will be played next month, in October. Madagascar will have a double confrontation that is already almost decisive with Gambia. As a reminder, the first two in the group will obtain their ticket for the CAN 2025.
