What is this project aimed at planting trees in high schools in the Region?

“Natur’O Lycées”, the renaturation project for establishments in the Region continues its deployment. It's the turn of the François Villon high school in Beaugency, not far from Orléans (Loiret) to inaugurate its participation during a dedicated operation.

It will take place don the morning of Wednesday January 8, 2025. The opportunity to take stock of this system and its objectives.

What does it consist of?

Supported by the Centre-Val de Loire Region as part of its environmental and energy policy, this project born in 2023 seeks to renature and revegetate the enclosure of the territory's establishments by planting different species of trees.

This makes it possible in particular to:

• Infiltrate rainwater to limit flooding
• Create a wetland favorable to biodiversity
• Create an observation point
• Creating urban microclimates
• Fight against the erosion of biodiversity in high schools

Planting operations are organized by students, eco-delegates and the educational communitya group which fully participates in the project throughout its entire length. At Beaugency high school, 71 students mobilized to make the project a reality in their establishment.

Note that there is, however, no intervention in the pruning, watering and maintenance of these green spaces.

Today, “Natur’O Lycées” was deployed in more than 25% of local public educational establishments in the region. “Dewaterproofing” work, mainly supported by water agencies, has been carried out since 2023 or will be carried out in 2025-2026.

Several operations began this winter in high schools in Centre-Val de Loire, here are some of them:

• Pierre-Emile Martin High School (Bourges)
• Vauvert professional high school (Bourges)
• Regional adapted education establishment (EREA) Eric Tabarly (Châteauroux)
• Beauregard Vocational High School (Château-Renault)
• Annex of the Maréchal Leclerc professional high school (Ingré)
• Franklin High School (Orléans)

The deployment of this project will obviously continue its course in other establishments.
