The letter arrived on Monday December 23, 2024 at the Val de Fensch agglomeration community (CAVF) of which Michel Liebgott is president. “The secretariat informed me immediately because you can clearly see from reading that this is not a usual letter.” explains the elected official. A short text was sent to him where he was criticized for not having given the City of Hayange a place within the CAVF community council office, probably a vice-presidential chair to the mayor National gathering of Hayange Fabien Engelmann. The author speaks “of shameful anomaly“on the part of”socialobobs“. We can read above all in conclusion: “We have decided that this arsouille which is definitely useless will leave this world in 2025. Prepare your Grand Départ, Michel“. The letter is accompanied by a picture of a crying cherub at a grave. “This isn't the first time I've encountered this sort of thing.” declares Michel Liebgott, “but in the past, those who did it, displayed themselves to the point of being once condemned. Here, it's an anonymous person, it's actually much more complicated since we don't know where it could come from.“.
In a previous letter, I was also informed of a death sentence but this time, it is dated. Obviously, we cannot take this threat lightly.

Michel Liebgott, also mayor of Fameck, filed a complaint in May 2023 for identity theft. A malicious letter bearing his signature had been sent to the prefect of Val-d'Oise, the second incident of this type in barely a month. “It's the repetitive side of things that gets a little annoying for everyone. There, they sent me a tombstone for next year. It is a letter that goes beyond the content of the previous ones, which were already particularly vulgar and odious. In a previous letter, I was also informed of a death sentence but this time, it is dated. Obviously, we cannot take this threat lightly.“.
“It doesn’t stop me from living and continuing to do what I have to do” continues the former deputy for Moselle“the best way not to think about it too much is to be in action. However, I cannot help but think of my family and those around me. In relation to what certain mayors have suffered these In recent years, we can still ask ourselves the question of violence, both verbal and perhaps tomorrow, material or physical. It is worrying, obviously.“.
Michel Liebgott filed a complaint immediately. “Things are clear, I put myself in the hands of the democratic society in which we live in the hope that these individuals will be identified. I don't want to accuse anyone because I don't have the elements to accuse anyone. I simply think that at the local level, there is violence in the words and also in the writings against the socialist idea. All this creates a climate which, indeed, makes acts of this violence possible because some people perhaps believe they are authorized to do so.“.
For five years, Michel Liebgott admits to having received around fifteen anonymous letters of various threats.
