Cardinal Krajewski on mission to Ukraine for Christmas

The prefect of the dicastery for the Service of Charity will once again travel to this “martyrized” country to bring help from Pope Francis in view of the end-of-year celebrations. The Polish cardinal will offer a medical camper, (small mobile hospital), and six ultrasound machines in the name of the Sovereign Pontiff.

This is a new mission in Ukraine for Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, prefect of the dicastery for Charity Service. The Polish cardinal, who has already visited the war-affected country a dozen times, returns there as the Christmas holidays approach to testify to the Pope’s closeness to those suffering from the consequences of the conflict, but also to provide material assistance.

Donation of a small mobile hospital

During this trip, in the name of Pope Francis, the cardinal will bring as a gift a large medical camper van, a small mobile hospital where surgical interventions can also be performed as well as six ultrasound machines which will be donated to bombed and destroyed hospitals. The Pope wanted to personally bless the camper van in recent days.

Meeting with suffering communities

«Every day Pope Francis prays for peace in this war-torn country, but in a concrete way he wants to be present among them in these days when we will celebrate the birth of Jesus», Informs a note published by the Press Room of the Holy See.

During his trip to Ukraine, the cardinal will visit various communities to meet the people who are suffering and, with them, he will try to open the “door of hope» in their hearts, and will pray for the much desired peace.
