The data compares the current week’s “average” price and the “previous week’s average” price for several fruits, revealing minor and significant fluctuations for some varieties. Among apples, for example, Bramley sowing apples saw a slight decline, with the current week’s average being £1.29 compared to £1.32 the previous week, a drop of £0.03, which equates to a decrease of 2%. A similar trend can be seen for Cox Orange Group apples, whose price has fallen from £1.20 last week to £1.19 this week, a minor drop of £0.01 or 1%. These changes suggest subtle changes in supply or demand conditions for these apple varieties.

Other apple varieties have seen slight declines or some stability. Gala apples, for example, fell from £1.20 last week to £1.17 this week, a drop of £0.03 or 3%. However, ‘other late season apples’ saw a slight positive movement, increasing by £0.01 to £1.20 from £1.19 last week, an increase of 1%. These changes between apple varieties indicate a mixed price trend, influenced by the supply and demand conditions of the week.
Among other fruits, strawberries stood out with a significant increase in price. The average price of strawberries for the current week rose to £4.80, up from £3.71 the previous week, reflecting a sharp increase of £1.09 or 29%. This notable increase highlights the increased demand or reduced availability of strawberries during the week, which contributed to the substantial growth in their price.
During this time, Conference pears and Doyenne du Comice pears remained stable. Conference pears increased slightly by £0.01 from £1.13 to £1.14, an increase of 1%, while Doyenne du Comice pears remained steady at £0.85 for both weeks . These observations suggest relative stability in pear prices despite fluctuations in other fruits. Overall, while some fruits like strawberries saw large price increases, others like apples saw slight declines or modest gains, reflecting the diversity of market dynamics in the sector fruit.
