VIDEO – The plane, coming from Uruguay, lost control while approaching the suburbs of Buenos Aires before crashing in a residential area of San Fernando.
“The smoke filled the house, we couldn’t see anything.” A plane crashed in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, Argentina, this Wednesday afternoon, killing at least two people. According to The Nationthe plane came from the Uruguayan city of Punta del Este, and made a “exit from the track” when wanting to land at San Fernando airport. Sources ofAirports Argentina 2000 told the Argentine newspaper that the plane crashed into a residential area before exploding. The pilot and co-pilot, identified as Martín Fernández Loza and Agustín Oforte, died on the plane.
The accident caused fires and damage in the area near the landing strip. The flames reached some houses, causing panic among neighbors. “My mother was inside the house with everyone, I didn’t pay attention until someone called me and said: ‘Sandra, the plane has crashed’ . The whole house began to shake, the neighbors’ windows exploded, everything shook, then the explosions followed one another and smoke filled the house. We couldn’t see anything.”testifies to Reuters Sandra Martinez, neighbor of the airport, “I came out crying and screaming.” So far, no deaths have been reported among the residents of the houses with which the plane collided.
