The firefighters were called around 9:30 p.m. for a house fire in this small village of Puisieux-et-Clanlieu. On their arrival, the emergency services could only note “the garage attached to the house completely on fire, as well as the beginning of spread to the dwelling house“, as explained by Commander Quentin Gillion, who directed the operations.
The firefighters quickly still suspected the presence of the owner in the house. “Our primary mission was therefore to search for the occupant. We found him apparently dead on the ground floor of the house.“, continues the commander, who came from the SDIS of Aisne.
Around twenty firefighters to put out the fire
The men from the Guise, Marle and Marly-Gomont emergency centers then continued to extinguish the fire. Around twenty firefighters were on site. “We still have a lot of work, because the fire has spread to the attic“, underlines the firefighter, around 11:30 p.m.
The gendarmes on site will have to determine the causes of the fire and the death of this resident of the town, aged a little over 70 years old.
