The first ten novels of the literary competition created in 1989 by Michel Dennery included those of Julia Deck and Aurélien Bellanger, among others, among the most critically acclaimed.

The December Prize, in its first selection of ten novels revealed on Monday December 2, selected among others those of Julia Deck and Aurélien Bellanger, among the most commented on by critics.

The Last Days of the Socialist Partyof the second, has aroused strong opinions in this literary rentrée. The list also includes a Lebanese novelist, Joy Majdalani, and a Moroccan novelist, Abdellah Taïa. The prize is awarded this year on October 31, the second of the major literary prizes of the fall, a week after the Grand Prix du roman de l’Académie française.

The December Prize was created in 1989 to, as its name suggests, reward a novel forgotten by the other autumn literary prizes. But it has changed its calendar. It is coveted for its endowment of 15,000 euros, with the support of the Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation.

The first selection:

– Justine Augier, Legal entity (Actes Sud)

– Aurelien Bellanger, The Last Days of the Socialist Party (Threshold)

– Christophe Bigot, Another one is waiting for me elsewhere (La Martiniere)

– Louise Chenneviere, Pour Britney (POL)
