For the first time since the 2019 fire, Notre-Dame de Paris is celebrating Christmas again on Tuesday. The traditional Nativity masses attracted many moved faithful.
Restored, resurrected and now once again inhabited by the magic of Christmas. Notre-Dame hosted the masses of December 24 on Tuesday evening, for the first time since the fire.

A total of four masses were celebrated in the cathedral, under the direction of the Archbishop of Paris, Monseigneur Ulrich. Less than a month after the reopening of the monument, hundreds of faithful Parisians and from around the world were present under the vaults of the building.
“It’s still something exceptional”
Tuesday evening at 8 p.m., the bells ring and the faithful enter the cathedral. A special joy to enter for Rémi, very moved upon leaving. “It was the most beautiful Christmas mass I have ever participated in. I did them all and this one was truly exceptional. I was extremely moved,” he testifies.

The mass ends. At 11 p.m. marks the start of the religious vigil before midnight mass, the most important moment for Laurent. “There, I tell myself that it’s still exceptional to have the chance to be in this renovated, magnificent Notre-Dame and to be there on Christmas Day, it’s great,” says his eyes clouded with tears, before the Nativity Mass at midnight.
