The high level of humidity in the atmosphere, linked to an overheating world, has in fact given rise to torrential or downpours of rain in the four corners of the world.

Hurricane Helene in the United States

Hurricane Helene hit the American coast between September 24 and 27 with winds of more than 200 km/h. While the destructive winds mainly affected Florida, it was the record rainfall that caused the most deaths, mainly in North Carolina and Georgia. At least 234 people died.

Cyclone Chido in Mayotte

The year 2024 ends with a new large-scale tragedy linked to a cyclonic phenomenon. Cyclone Chido devastated Mayotte on December 14 with winds of more than 200 km/h. To date, the exact number of victims is unknown.

Typhoon Yagi in Asia

Typhoon Yagi hit the Philippines and China starting August 31, before heading towards Vietnam. Yagi caused chaos with maximum gusts of 203 km/h in northern Vietnam and its torrential rains caused landslides. At least 844 people have died.

Floods in Spain

The region of Valence was ravaged by historic flooding on October 29. Under thunderstormsthunderstorms very rainy, the equivalent of a year's worth of rain fell in a single day. Some 231 people lost their lives, half of whom were elderly people who did not have time to flee from the vitessevitesse of the rising water.

Thousands of floods and landslides

The year 2024 was marked by countless floodsfloods and landslides around the world.

Among the most serious, the floods in Afghanistan and Pakistan from March 6 to September 4 (more than 1,000 deaths), and the May 24 landslide in Papua New Guinea (several thousand deaths).
