Five other teenagers, all born in 2008 or 2009, were also indicted this Sunday for participation in a group with the aim of committing violence against people, and placed under judicial supervision, the judicial source confirmed. According to the daily, they are close to the victim, presented as Abass D., aged 16.
Brawl between neighborhoods
Thursday evening, another 16-year-old teenager, attending the Rodin high school in the 13th arrondissement, near which the fatal attack took place, had already been indicted for murder and imprisoned.
According to the prosecutor's previous explanations, “he and the victim, with other young people yet to be identified, clearly maintained a relationship of animosity punctuated by recourse to violence in different places in Paris”.
The brawl arose from the rivalry between the Glacière district and that of Admiral Mouchez. Tuesday morning, before the start of classes, a fight broke out near the Rodin middle and high school. In cardio-respiratory arrest and with head injuries, the minor was treated by emergency services before dying in hospital.
Resident of Ivry (Val-de-Marne), bordering department of 13e district, the victim attended a vocational high school in Alfortville, in the same department. He had already been injured by a stab on December 10 near the René Cassin high school (16th arrondissement), facts which are the subject of an investigation, the prosecution indicated.
According to the same source, the death of the teenager “is part of the continuation of a phenomenon of recurring brawls between young people in the 13th arrondissement sector, where eight clashes have been noted since May 2024”.
Between 2022 and 2023, gang phenomena increased by 10% in the Paris metropolitan area, reaching 413 incidents compared to 375, according to information communicated by the police headquarters. There were four deaths in 2023, compared to three in 2022.
