The Senators return to action tonight for a second game in two nights this weekend, when they take on the Edmonton Oilers at 8 p.m. ET. This match comes less than 24 hours after a 5-4 overtime victory against the Vancouver Canucks, won last night. This evening will also be the second and final clash of the season between the Senators and the Oilers.
Fans can watch tonight's game on RDS or TSN5, or listen live on the radio on Unique FM or TSN 1200.
The Senators are on an excellent streak as they defeated the Vancouver Canucks 5-4 in overtime last night. Jake Sanderson had three points (one goal, two assists), including the winning goal in overtime, while Shane Pinto also scored three (two goals, one assist). Claude Giroux and Josh Norris were the other scorers for the Senators. In front of the net, goaltender Leevi Meriläinen stopped 25 shots to sign the first victory of his NHL career.
At the other end of the ice, the Oilers will be looking for a third straight win. Just like the Senators, the Edmonton team played last night when they faced the San Jose Sharks, winning 3 to 2, also in overtime.
In their first meeting, on November 19 in Ottawa, the Senators lost 5 to 2 to the Oilers. Forwards Josh Norris and Tim Stützle both scored for the Sens.
The latter did not skate this morning, but after the departure of goaltender Leevi Meriläinen last night, it is very likely that Linus Ullmark will be between the pipes for the Senators tonight.
The Ottawa team seems impossible to stop lately and tonight's duel promises to be exciting against the dynamic Edmonton Oilers.
