New York State Police are seeking to identify a woman found “suspiciously” dead in the grounds of a historic Hyde Park property.
Who is she? How did she die? For what ? And how did she get there? The questions remain numerous, two weeks after the discovery of the lifeless body of a woman in the grounds of a historic Vanderbilt mansion in Hyde Park, New York. The “New York Post” explains that it was a hiker who found the mysterious stranger “lying face down” near the Hudson River on December 6.
New York State Police have since released a photo of the mystery woman in hopes the public can help identify her. She is a woman of around 50/60 years old, with white skin, gray hair, no scars, marks or tattoos, measuring 1.67 meters and weighing 50 kilos. The first assessments suggest that she did not die in Vanderbilt's garden and that her death is “suspicious”. For the moment, the call for witnesses has unfortunately not made it possible to identify him.

The Vanderbilt family is an American family that rose to prominence during the Gilded Age (1865 to 1901). The latter made her fortune building maritime and railway empires, before expanding her activity to industry and philanthropy. Their descendants were among the first to build grand homes on Fifth Avenue in New York, and the first to build mansions in Newport or Asheville. The Hyde Park mansion (which includes 54 rooms) was built by Frederic William Vanderbilt at the beginning of the 20th century. It has since been inhabited by “the cream of the crop of New Yorkers.”
