A spectacular car fire on the Montée du Faron mobilized firefighters and police, generating numerous calls to the rescue center.
A car fire mobilized the Var firefighters this afternoon, at 2:50 p.m., on the Montée du Faron, in Toulon. Visible from a large part of the city, this fire generated an influx of calls to the emergency center.
Rapid and controlled intervention
The alert was given due to heavy black smoke rising above the Montée du Faron. Many witnesses, alerted by the visibility of the disaster, contacted 18/112 to report this incident. Firefighters, quickly dispatched to the scene with a fire engine and a crew of six firefighters, quickly brought the fire under control, preventing any spread to the surrounding area.
Calls for civic-mindedness
Faced with the influx of reports linked to this fire, firefighters point out that it is no longer necessary to report this specific event. On the other hand, they strongly encourage citizens to continue to dial 18 or 112 for any other suspicious smoke or any start of fire observed in the region.
An open investigation
The National Police, also involved in this operation, are carrying out investigations to determine the causes of the fire. No injuries were reported, but material damage to the vehicle was significant.
