This Friday, December 20, 2024, a rock crashed into a car, killing one person and injuring two people during a landslide in Isère.
The events took place around 8:30 p.m. at the hamlet of Ougiers on the RD530 departmental road near Deux Alpes in Isère, according to France 3.
Three people were in the car
Several rocks broke away from the wall of a cliff and crashed into a vehicle passing at the same time on the road, causing a landslide.
The car was partly covered by blocks of rock, explain our colleagues from Dauphiné Libéré.
At the time of the impact, three people were in the passenger compartment. A 62-year-old man is in the passenger seat as well as two other occupants, two other men aged 59 and 61. The latter were only very slightly injured. They were transported to Grenoble-Alpes University Hospital for control examinations.
One dead in the accident
When help arrived, the 62-year-old man in the passenger seat was in cardiorespiratory arrest. Despite several resuscitation attempts, the sixty-year-old did not survive. His death was pronounced by the firefighters and the Samu.
The road was closed to traffic. Expertises must be carried out this Saturday to determine if there is still a risk of landslide.
